You just graduated from cooking school, and want to start a cooking business. Great! What's not great? In this world, the food is conscious! Cooking is strictly illegal and categorized with MURDER. But the pay was enticing, and the food, delicious! You sacrificed your morality to make meals requested by the rich, ravenous customers. But beware! The police definitely do not agree with you! Sacrifice too many vegetables, make too much money, get too popular, and they will catch you and stop your nefarious money-making scheme. How long can you survive as a cook in this alternate reality? Only time will tell!

Cook was created for Ludum Dare 43. The theme was "Sacrifices must be made."

This game contains flashing images, loud noises, and imagery that more sensitive audiences may find disturbing. You have been warned.

Bug fixes:

12/2/18 - Fixed failure to recognize sentences with periods.

Post Jam Changes:

12/20/18 - Multi-resolution support, improved speaking sound effect, tweaked text speaking timing, changed dramatic ending, improved bed animation, reduced redundancies in the text, reworked intro and tutorial.

everytime i type " i will follow the instructions " it keeps saying repeat.after.me like its getting anooying maybe its a bug im sorry

It's suuuuper finnicky - any typos and/or different punctuation will make it fail. Plus, it might just straight up not work anyway. This is a jam game after all. Sorry if you can't get it to work!

It's fine I wanted to see if it would work if I download another one and it did thank you though

Thanks for sharing your art my friend! I had a lot of fun with it, although there's actually not a lot there. I hope to see you do more stuff in the future!

Hey! Thank you for playing! I'm glad you liked it, and I'm glad you've confirmed that I created the right effect with the twist! I have a couple of ideas for improving the game and posting a post-jam version, but it's supposed to be a sort of video game short story, creepy pasta style.

I've made some pretty major changes and fixed some of the issues you ran into, so if you're still interested, by all means, play the new version. The ending is way better,  the typo issues are gone, and you can now press enter (sorry!)

I'm glad you were able to resolve some of it! I really think you have something here and I hope to see  something even bigger and grander from you in the future.
